The recipient of the Australian Institute of Architects 2009 Gold Medal is Hassell’s Professor Ken Maher. Architect, landscape architect and an urban design advocate, Maher was presented with the award last night at the AIA NSW headquarters at Tusculum, Potts Point.

Maher is noted for his siginificant contribution to the practice of architecture and urban planning, and is credited with creating many iconic buildings around Sydney (including the Homebush Rail Station) as well as other projects throughout the country. He is also well known in the profession as an advocate for architectural ‘engagement’ and collaboration.
