The Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) is all set to shine a spotlight on the brilliance and dedication of individuals and enterprises that have significantly contributed to Singapore’s furniture industry. The new Sol Awards 2023, which are replacing the Singapore Furniture Industry Awards (SFIA), will be presented on 17th November to honour the trailblazers in the local furniture sector. These awards align with SFIC’s vision to lead Singapore’s furniture industry toward sustainable urban living by emphasising three key pillars: market agility, urbanite-centricity, and enterprise adeptness.

The Sol Awards aim to recognise and encourage companies that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to sustainability within their operations. This is reflected in the introduction of the Sustainability Leaders Recognition (SLR) category, which will highlight and commend those businesses dedicated to sustainable practices.

An independent jury panel, consisting of distinguished representatives from government organisations, trade agencies, and consulting firms, will be responsible for evaluating and selecting the winners in each award category. This esteemed panel includes Jeannie Lim from Enterprise Singapore, Julia Ng from Workforce Singapore, Jacks Yeo from DesignSingapore Council, Esther An from City Developments Limited, Professor Tao Lee Siang from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Dr. Roger Loo from BDO Consultants and Rita Soh from RDC Architects.

The award presentation ceremony, which is taking place on 17th November at Conrad Singapore Orchard, will coincide with SFIC’s 42nd Gala Dinner. The Sol Awards will honour those who maintain high productivity levels while fulfilling international climate commitments, a crucial aspect of government-led efforts for future economic development in Singapore.

SFIC President, Phua Boon Huat, emphasises the importance of innovative and sustainable strategies for local companies to thrive in the ever-evolving global market. He hopes that the Sol Awards will inspire companies to pursue growth and green practices, contributing to the advancement of the local furniture ecosystem.

The Sol Awards consist of six distinct categories, each recognising excellence, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the furniture industry in Singapore:

  • All-Star Enterprise
  • Experiential Excellence
  • Innovation in Design
  • New Entrant
  • Sustainability Leaders Recognition (SLR)
  • Outstanding Individual Award

The Outstanding Individual Award recognises and profiles middle management and staff within the furniture industry, who have demonstrated remarkable and consistent performance. This recognition aims to commend their achievements and encourage them to continue cultivating innovative ideas and scaling new heights in their careers.

Each award category will have Gold, Silver, and Bronze award recipients, each of whom will receive a winner’s package, including the SFIC Honour Certificate, public recognition for both individuals and companies, and an acknowledgement trophy.
