’Jacaranda House’ Scoops Domestic Design Award

In its fourth year, the Boral Design Awards scope out the finest conceptual residential awards by architects, building designers and students.

With a brief to design a 150sqm family home and its landscape, this year’s award encouraged innovative but realistic ideas in residential design. 

Using Boral products from the competition product sheet, the designer and architects were awarded for demonstrating an innovative use of the selected Boral products.

Courtyard centrepieces mode; featured prominently in the communal familial feel of the designs, but the first place prize of $20,000 went to the ‘Jacaranda House’ by Paul Focic and Jeremy Marsden from Cox Rayner Architects.
 
“Jacaranda House represents the most creative application of materials within a building that responds to climate, topography and orientation, to create maximum comfort and delight for its inhabitants”, commented the jury.

Second place of $10,000 went to Shane Plazibat, Tony Jemmott, Vincent Teo and Jindrich Hozak from Plazibat + Jemmott Architects  whilst Lachlan Joseph of Queensland University of Technology took home the Student category award of $4000.
