The LIFT, by Smeg, is a piece of stylish, technical wizardry taking range hoods to a whole new level

A single touch of an electronic button and it rises silently and majestically from the depths of the workbench.

A second touch and it begins to quietly remove all cooking odours and grease-laden fumes from the multiple pans bubbling away on the cooktop.

This new concealed telescopic downdraft range hood takes up no visible space and is installed in the bench top to the rear or to one side of the cooktop.

Features of the LIFT include whisper quiet air extraction, an above bench-top height of 310mm, four speeds and a powerful motor capable of removing up to 760 cubic metres of air an hour.

Available in two finishes, either brushed stainless steel or stainless steel and black mirror glass, the appliance is a sleek 900mm wide and includes stainless steel and aluminium filters that can be conveniently cleaned in the dishwasher.

Air laden with odours and grease is sucked into the filters, cleaned and then returned to the kitchen.

Both models of the LIFT have an LED panel, a cut off timer, electronic controls and a ten-minute delay shut off.
