Sub-Zero’s Designer Series is takes innovative food-preservation to a new, design-led level.
August 2nd, 2024
Our favourite kitchens this year have been those that have let materials shine. We’ve loved seeing natural stone benches layered against richly-textured cabinetry, or luxe metalized accessories on top of organic hand-made tiles. For us, the magic of kitchens comes out of composition and layering, those finessed spaces that can go big on materials without fear of overcomplication or distraction from appliances.
The Sub-Zero Designer Series goes hand-in-hand with this approach, with a range of food preservation solutions that bring elevated integration to the kitchen. Dubbed as the ‘disappearing refrigerator’ when first introduced, the newly reimagined Sub-Zero.
Designer Series Refrigeration is seamless and subtle: a powerful appliance that hides behind a kitchen’s material palette. Packed with technology to power homes or commercial office settings, the Designer Series is the perfect accompaniment for kitchens made for the aesthetic and culinary minded.
A designer’s dream

Sub-Zero is known across the globe for their pioneering kitchen appliance range, where innovative culinary technologies are packaged inside luxury frontages. The Designer Range takes this ethos to another level, allowing users to harness Sub-Zero’s performance power without compromising on the finishes and feel of their kitchen space.
Available across refrigerators, freezers, and wine storage units, the Designer Series models have no visible hinges or grilles. Each piece can be fit with custom panels and handles to make them completely indistinguishable from surrounding cabinetry, or optional steel additions can make a visible design statement and reflect the new stainless steel finishes of the interior.
Innovation preserved

The newest addition of the ‘disappearing fridge’ isn’t just a designer’s dream, with a list of technological advancements that would impress even the most awarded masterchef.
Food is kept fresher for longer thanks to the new Split Climate™ Intelligent Cooling System, where a variable speed compressor and two fans keep refrigerator temperatures constant. A new touch control panel manages everything from lighting to humidity, while a magnetic door seal locks in cold air to ensure freshness and reduce energy consumption.
Usability is also front of mind, with a flip-up dairy compartment and adjustable door shelves accommodating the storage of taller items. A new Night Mode optimises interior lighting to respond to night-time fridge raids, while ClearSight™ LED Lighting ensures light is directed where it’s needed most – overhead, under each shelf, and in each crisper drawer.
Nano-coated glass and air purification help contain spills and manage odour for a fresh refrigerator, while freshness cards and a water filter also brings an elevated wellbeing refrigeration experience.
Refrigeration excellence

From sleek galley kitchens to more expansive U, G, or island shaped footprints, the seamlessness of the Designer Series offers an unprecedented level of minimalism to appliance design. Continuous lines and level surfaces replace the bulk of traditional refrigerators, creating a cleaner finish that also adds an element of playfulness, where serious innovation is out of sight, but never out of mind.
Available in widths from a compact 457mm to a spacious 914mm, the Sub-Zero Designer Series models offer a design solution for any kitchen composition, making seamless integration possible in any space and allowing kitchen design to reign supreme.
