"A garment can transcend, giving it a soul" - An ethos Isogawa applies expertly to his new range of commercial textiles finishes for Woven Image.

‘A meeting of minds’ probably best sums up the creative relationship between internationally acclaimed fashion designer Akira Isogawa and Woven Image in the launch of their sumptuous new collection of textiles and verticals.

From the very first meeting, both parties quickly realised that they were looking at this collaboration from the same viewpoint. Maintaining a crisp, contemporary aesthetic, the collection consists of two luscious velvet upholsteries (Botan and Shibori) along with three exquisite wall covering co-ordinates (EchoPanel Mura Nami, Kome and Haku).

The initial design concepts were inspired by Akira’s recent fashion collection–involving the traditional Japanese shibori dying technique.

“From the first conversation, I was excited about the prospect of working with Woven Image, as I was aware of their long standing tradition of collaborating with artists. I was keen to see how we could work together to bring a unique fashion voice to their offering,” says Akira. “One element was to incorporate strong fashion colours in upholstery that would act as bold accents to juxtapose a very calm, tone-on-tone effect in the wall coverings that also utilised this incredible metallic pigment to give it an extra textural dimension”.

The Woven Image Akira interior finishes collection is a glamorously luxurious addition of luscious velvet upholsteries accented with three unique wall coverings.  Botan, Shibori and EchoPanel Mura Nami, Kome and Haku provide for an iconic fashion influence.
