SGR Audio Wins Staron Design Awards

SGR Audio has been awarded winner of the Edition 2, Staron Design Awards 2010.
wStuart Graeme Ralston of SGR Audio beat a host of other nominees to be named winner of the Edition 2, Staron Design Awards 2010.
The jury, consisting of Stephen Varady of Kann Finch Group, Amanda Stanaway of Woods Bagot and Indesign’s own Mandi Keighran, agreed that SGR Audio’s entry was unique and explored the endless design possibilities with Staron.
The MT3F and MT3FSL by SGR Audio are beautiful and high performance loudspeakers, manufactured locally in Melbourne, Australia.
They are made of internal marine plywood construction, utilising constrained-layer damping techniques, and then outer-skinned with 12mm Staron Solid Surfaces.
“Staron Solid Surfaces was chosen because of its ability to be joined seamlessly, as well as its machine-ability and non-porous surface,” said award-winner Ralston.
“The completely seamless Staron outer skin forms the perfect foundation to apply our industry leading high-gloss 2-pack painted finish. The Staron product has proven stable over time; we have speakers on show that are over 3 years old which still look as good as the day they were painted. There are no seams or join lines showing! This was previously unachievable with a timber outer skin as timber has a tendency to ‘grow’ over time,”
