The New Kid On The Block: Mazda Macarthur

 

When you think of Japanese company Mazda you immediately think ‘sleek, contemporary design’. (Actually you think ‘zoom zoom’ thanks to its clever, catchy marketing but then you think ‘sleek, contemporary design’). From its cars to its advertising and even its showrooms, everything is slick and luxurious with cutting-edge technology at its core. So when the company was fitting out its new dealership in Macarthur NSW, Krost proved the perfect choice for its furniture.

For, like the car giant, Krost’s products are super modern with comfort and ergonomics the driving force behind every piece. Plus, much more than just a furniture supplier, Krost offers holistic commercial solutions that help companies to shape their corporate image and create highly productive workplaces.

The new showroom is beautifully appointed with floor-to-ceiling glass defining many of the external and internal walls in the gigantic, open-plan space. Thus, the majority of its functional areas or offices, which are typically hidden away in other dealerships, are now very much in view; so it was essential that all furniture be stylish as well as practical.

Krost was utilised throughout the various spaces, from the showroom and executive offices featuring a combination of its Aero and Dart organic spine desks, to the back-end offices where Benchwork and Keywork workstations are teamed with Miro and Tang chairs. The waiting areas, meanwhile were designed with customers’ comfort in mind, so feature warm inviting zones with a variety of Krost’s breakout furniture – including Jena chairs, Hush lounges, Dart coffee tables, Halo tables and Tang chairs.

Fully powered Oslo counter tables and Zorro stools provide the ideal place for customer / staff interactions, informal meetings and activity-based working whilst the addition of a Trak accessory rail with planters and screens gave the tables a touch of lux and heightened sense of privacy.

Guided by interior designer Sally Oakman and an original look book by Gray Puksand, the team at Mazda were keen to future-proof the new showroom through a timeless colour palette and by integrating power systems into the workstations. And thanks to Krost’s custom joinery capabilities, this was no problem!

With a local manufacturing plant in Sydney, Krost can create bespoke cabinetry and joinery in custom shapes, sizes and edge profiles. It also offers custom upholstery and powder coating to ensure a huge variety of colours and finishes are available to its clients. In Mazda’s case, the brief required the furniture to incorporate some of the latest Polytec colours to create a beautiful scheme of white, wood grain, grey and blue throughout the entire showroom.

Krost’s custom capabilities allowed them to create bespoke desks for Mazda and they worked with interior designer Sally to create modern, angular shaped desks. It also allowed them to design the desks and storage facilities around the specific needs of employees, with features such as integrated pigeonholes and power systems for enhanced functionality.

The result of this collaboration between Mazda, Krost and Sally is a supremely stylish, yet ultimately timeless interior scheme, that allows the dealership to operate at maximum efficiency. Mazda’s initial brief stipulated that the fit-out should give customers a ‘beautiful, inviting and comfortable space to wait in while having their car serviced’ and this has been executed superbly. In typical Mazda fashion, the new showroom exudes style, class and comfort.
