The collaboration between Issey Miyake and James Dyson will see a limited release of the DC16 in Australia next month.
It might seem like an unlikely marriage: a fashion designer and a vacuum cleaner, but this collaboration by Issey Miyake and Dyson made it work.
When Issey Miyake created a fashion collection around the theme of ‘The Wind’ – engaging in a “playful interaction with the wind” – it seemed a perfect opportunity for collaboration with Dyson.
Items in the Issey Miyake Wind collection were inspired by Dyson’s vacuum cleaner technology and engineering drawings and in return Dyson will release a limited edition pink DC16 Issey Miyake vacuum.
At the Wind collection launch in Paris, James Dyson was also invited to design the stage for the parade. “I’ve long admired ISSEY MIYAKE’s approach to design; experimenting with new technology, materials and production methods and redefining the possibilities of design. It’s been great to join forces on such an exciting and unconventional project.”
The limited release DC16 Issey Miyake will be available in Australia from 1 April – 31 May 2009 for RRP$349, while stocks last.
