Gubi adds more luxury to its evolving collection

Danish design company Gubi is such a brand.

From Gubi and design-duo GamFratesi comes an extension of the popular Bat Collection – originally launched with luxurious high and low back Lounge Chairs – and now sees a charming Armchair version. Named “Bat” after the seat shell’s strong references to the distinctive shape of a bat’s wingspan, it channels a classic Scandinavian approach to simplicity and functionality for which GamFratesi is renowned. Available in seven shell colours and unlimited fabric or leather upholstery options – seat pad, front face or entirely covered, the Bat Armchair is highly customisable to create a timeless expression.

Thanks to the versatility of Bat’s options, the chair is suitable for any project, from workplace, to hospitality to the home. Designers can consider 4-legs in either metal or wood or a 4-way swivel base, with optional castors. A wide selection of metal finishes and veneers further highlight how tailored the Bat can be.

GamFratesi has further expanded Gubi’s table offering with the new Epic series – a sculptural collection of dining, meeting and occasional tables inspired by Greek columns and Roman architecture. Made in Italy from Travertine, the monolithic forms emphasise the materiality of the stone – its veins, texture and patina. A colour palette of neutral white, vibrant grey and burnt red enable the impact of the pieces to be dialled up or down to suit their environment. Epic Tables have a strong form with bases available in either circular or hexagonal variants. Epic is testament to GamFratesi’s statement: “Without material, there is no soul”

And from the designers at Space Copenhagen comes the playful exuberance of the new Wonder Sofa. With a measured simplicity, the Wonder Sofa reinterprets the 1970’s Lounge with an updated, informal and generous nature equally suited to a sophisticated residence or contemporary hotel. The Wonder Sofa’s plump cushions are softly folded over the clean, square lines of the backrest and attached with ingenious, hidden magnets. The Wonder Sofa offers freedom to explore endless configurations, by combining its three simple modules.

Other featured releases in Gubi’s range are the Multi-Lite Small Pendant and Table Lamp version which are characterised by directing light in multiple directions to provide a stunning, decorative expression. Then, shifting to a different sense of scale and presence is Space Copenhagen’s Gravity Table Lamp that demonstrate aesthetically contrasting strength and fragility. Taking the name from the lamp’s distinctive balance between anchoring of the heavy, cylindrical base and the lightweight airy shade, it strikingly merges into a sculptural whole.
