The 39th Dulux Colour Awards are officially open for entries, inviting architects, interior designers, specifiers and students to submit their most innovative projects.
Entries remain open for the 39th Dulux Colour Awards, with architects, interior designers, specifiers and students from Australia and New Zealand invited to submit their inspiring work. The prestigious awards celebrate exceptional and creative use of colour in design across a diverse range of interior and exterior spaces, including residential, public and commercial environments.
Andrea Lucena-Orr, Dulux Colour and Communications Manager, comments on the program and its aim of recognising excellence in the creative application of colour: “The Dulux Colour Awards celebrates design and how the considered use of bold and imaginative colour can truly transform the form, feeling and function of a space.”
As seen in last year’s Australian Grand Prix winner, Alexandria House by Lachlan Seegers Architect absolutely wowed judges for its unpredictability and commitment to a singular gesture in the application of a deep, burnished red to the ceiling of the home. Similarly, the New Zealand Grand Prix winner, Seven Colourful Little Houses by COMMON Architecture + Interiors, took a simple idea but applied it with great care and a deep conviction, which now sets a new precedent for this typology highlighting colour as a cost-effective, highly impactful design strategy.
“The depth of talent, sophistication and ambition demonstrated by our emerging and established design community never fails to impress the judging panel’s expectations, and we eagerly await to observe their appraisal of this year’s entries.”

This year’s judging panel comprises, Andrew Parr (SJB), Alex McLeod (at.space), Rachel Luchetti (Luchetti Krelle), Kim Bridgland (Edition Office), Kerstin Thompson (Kerstin Thompson Architects) and Andrea Lucena-Orr. They will be selecting across categories including Commercial Interior – Workplace and Retail/Public and Hospitality,Residential Exterior, Temporary of Installation Design, and Student (Years 1-6, AUS/NZ).
Parr adds that “the creative use of colour is such an integral aspect of design, particularly when a project has multiple constraints, and I’m eager to see how this year’s entrants have embraced it to enhance function and form across residential and commercial spaces.”
Entries close on February 21, 2025. Award finalists will be announced on March 27, 2025, and winners revealed on May 28, 2025.
