The Sydney-based brand’s emphasis on customisation allows designers to tailor these sculptural pieces to generously proportioned kitchens, dining areas and commercial spaces.
Whether ‘form’ or ‘function’ comes first in design might be a longstanding debate. However, it doesn’t apply to D.Bianco, a brand that gives equal importance to both.
This balance is reflected in the brand’s name, with the ‘D’ representing the duo behind the studio, Fabio and Diana Ferreira Bianco, whose complementary skills unite form and function.

Fabio brings the technical nous of electrical engineering and cabinetmaking, while Diana’s art and glass design background shapes a distinctive aesthetic. ‘Bianco’, translating to ‘white’ in Italian, is a fitting nod to Fabio’s heritage and light itself.
At the heart of D.Bianco is a shared fascination with light and its ability to reveal the character of materials. Think natural crystals, gemstones, braided rope, and metals like brass—materials that interact with light in distinctive ways. Illumination reveals their grain, colour and texture. Playful observation prompts design, as Diana Ferreira Bianco explains, “Our process begins with materials we’re drawn to. We place light against them and observe how it reveals their character—from the glow within a crystal to the three-dimensional effect created by light passing through a rope’s braid. Hands-on experiments guide both the form of the design and the way it illuminates a space.” The team then craft minimalist metal structures that frame both material and light.
Handcrafted in Sydney, the new designs expand on the brand’s experimentation. Festif Linear features curling, illuminated braided rope that contrasts with the geometric brass framework. The dimmable light shining through the rope’s weave adds warm texture. The Crown Jewel Linear celebrates the characteristics of natural quartz crystals. With intricate veining that varies from crystal to crystal, each version of The Crown Jewel is one of a kind. Each crystal sphere becomes an ornament too, with specific natural veining that projects unique optical effects.

“One challenge was finding a way to secure the crystals without visually overwhelming them. This required hand-carving each crystal to accommodate its fitting—a careful process that responds to the individual stone,” Fabio Ferreira Bianco explains.
Festif Linear and The Crown Jewel Linear make a strong visual statement while elevating the overall design of a space. Both can be customised to suit the furniture, room proportions and ceiling height.
Festif Linear can be made up to six metres long, with the option to replace the vertical brass tubes with suspension cables. Free-ended rope configurations are also available, and the design can be adapted for angled ceilings.

The Crown Jewel Linear offers custom lengths, different arrangements of the circular and spherical quartz elements.
Both designs feature brass tube structures, with custom electroplated finishes available to complement the interior palette. LED colour temperature can also be selected to create the desired atmosphere.
Designers are invited to consult D.Bianco, with 3D or BIM files to hand, for advice on integrating sculptural lighting into their design. Bespoke sample kits are also available to experience the textures and appearance of different finishes.Whether illuminating a kitchen island, dining table or large commercial space, D.Bianco’s new designs are sculptural centrepieces. Customisation allows each fitting to bring its distinctive character and atmosphere to spaces of different scales.
