Flexibility is a consistent buzzword in the design industry – and with good reason when we consider future use and the pace with which our spaces are changing and adapting.
What we need in our schools, break out areas and hospitality spaces now, may not be what we need in five or ten years time. This is why it’s incredibly important for designers to consider products that offer a level of adaptability and fluidness.
Iratzoki Lizaso is a Spanish industrial design studio from the Basque Country. The duo behind the studio works in a cross-section of design disciplines, which brings a unique perspective to their work.
Seeing the need for flexibility in more than one way, the Xoko range, designed by Iratzoki Lizaso for Akaba, can not only be arranged in a multitude of ways for different purposes, it can also be constructed in a range of finishes.
What makes Xoko a standout is its unique form. The design studio took inspiration from the corners of architecture, creating a sculptural, softly rounded chair that can be turned, rearranged and seated on at various angles.
Adding more layers of versatility, the Xoko range comes in a range of variations, giving designers their own level of flexibility. Xoko is available in a four-way castor chair with a range of powdercoated base colours or metallic finishes. The upholstered shell is available in a selection of house fabrics and leathers. In addition, the Xoko Stool is available in two fixed height versions or a height-adjustable version.
For educational or training settings, the integrated pivot table makes an ideal companion in a complete and stylish package.
