Extraordinary aged care environments with Workspace
Published

Australian furniture company, Workspace Commercial Furniture brings their expertise in inspiring furniture to the Aged Care and Allied Health environments.
Throughout Australia, the Aged Care landscape is constantly evolving to support and adapt to the needs of the community. It is more important now than ever before to create comfortable, inviting spaces for the users within. More than just a functional space, architects and designers strive to create progressive and nurturing necessities that replicate the luxury of a hotel and the warmth of home.

Since its inception in 1911, Workspace Commercial Furniture have dedicated themselves to providing expert solutions throughout the aged care sector and beyond. As one of Australia’s leading manufacturers, Workspace understands that an exceptionally curated furniture, fabric and material palette is prominent in the functionality of an aged care facility.
Through collaborative relationships with Aged Care designers, builders and facility owners, the combined expertise gives room for endless possibilities in creating a vibrant and inviting space for residents, employees and visitors alike. As a result, the team at Workspace actively incorporate thoughtful colours and textures to elevate the art of living in an allied health environment.

Located in South Australia, Workspace was involved in the recent redevelopment of the Repat Health Precinct. Although it had announced its closure in 2015, an $86 million-dollar landmark expansion of health services in South Australia has reactivated the Repat Health Precinct.
In collaboration with Walter Brooke and Associates Architects, the process looked to renovate the former Ward 20 into a new state of the art facility for people with dementia and complex care needs. The revitalised Specialised Advanced Dementia Unit features specialized sensory rooms, expansive open spaces, living and recreational areas, gardens and thoughtfully-designed rooms to make you feel right at home.

Workspace worked closely with the architects and designers to curate a space with outstanding furniture products. Aligned with the services at the Specialised Advanced Dementia Unit, Workspace provided complete end to end solutions of health care-specific and complimentary furnishings such as lounges, dining tables and chairs. By bringing their expertise to the project, Workspace was able to create a range of functional and inspiring health care environments that break the stereotype of Aged Care aesthetics.
The success of the Repat General Hospital redevelopment was a testament to Workspace’s dedication to delivering bespoke and standard product ranges to elevate our everyday spaces. Today’s Aged Care landscape requires more than just simple, functional spaces to support aged care residences. Rather, the goal is to provide artful, innovative and extraordinary lifestyle environments that cater for the present context, while also looking towards the future.
