Breathe easy with these award winning EcoSoft carpets

Inhale, exhale: Above Left and Carpets Inter receive international recognition for sustainability and design excellence with their new modular carpet tile collection, Breathe.
Take a breath; hold it. Release.
An instinctive and crucial process, breathing is one of the most fundamental ways that we interact with our environment. Above Left and Carpets Inter have worked tirelessly to create a revolutionary carpet collection inspired by the machinations of breathing. The award-winning new carpet collection not only creates a healthier home atmosphere, but actively contributes to improving sustainability efforts around the world by repurposing plastic waste and achieving carbon neutrality – an impressive feat which saw the collection celebrated at the prestigious Archiproducts design awards.

The Archiproducts design awards are internationally recognised and voted on by a European panel of the most influential global characters in architecture and design. They choose, review and recognise the most impressive examples of design innovation across more than 700 award submissions. Archiproducts is the online reference point for over 3.7 million professionals and design lovers worldwide. The awards party was held in Milan, Italy on November 3rd.
The Breathe collection took home the newly-introduced Special Mention for Sustainability; a celebration of outstanding products created using sustainable materials and practices – from composition through to production. The Breathe collection received awards for its originality, design quality, concept, aesthetics and sustainability in the finishes category.

In an effort to reach carbon neutrality, many companies opt to purchase carbon credits rather than alter their internal practices. However, Above Left and Carpets Inter are committed to practicing prevention at the source. Alongside their fight to recycle and reduce plastic pollution, other company-driven initiatives include the use of more than 90% clean energy sources, planting thousands of trees in the community each year, repurposing organic waste to agriculture and recycling waste for refuse-derived fuel.

‘Breathe’ features two designs, Inhale and Exhale, which work together as instinctually as breathing. Both designs are available on EcoSoft, a unique and high-performance carpet tile made from 80% post-consumer discarded water bottles and 5% post-industrial recycled PET. EcoSoft is an innovative and sustainable material which has allowed for the repurpose of more than 30 million PET bottles otherwise destined to become pollution.
