Eight notable Australian designers have just been inducted into the DIA Hall of Fame at a recent ceremony in Sydney hosted by Joanne Cys LFDIA, a DIA Past National President and Chair of the DIA Design Hall of Fame Committee, and James Harper FDIA, current DIA National President.

The ceremony was also attended by other invited guests, designers and their families.

The latest DIA Hall of Fame inductees were industrial designer Mark Armstrong, founding principal of Blue Sky, a leading Australian design consultancy; Peter Gacesa, a businessman and talented design professional who practiced at the forefront of interior decoration and interior design in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast for more than three decades; well known Sydney-based interior designer, architect, landscape designer and columnist Ann Gyngell; Melbourne graphic and interior designer George Kràl (inducted posthumously); John and Roslynne Moriarty, founders of indigenous design and strategy company Jumbana Group and the contemporary design studio Balarinji; Marc Newson, one of the most widely recognised Australian designers of his generation; and Pia Ruggeri, interior designer and founder of Pia Francesca Design Pty Ltd.

An Honorary DIA Fellowship was also awarded on the night to Sydney Mayor Clover Moore in recognition of her support of the importance of design in the city’s development.

The DIA congratulates all new DIA Hall of Fame inductees.

The latest inductees now bring to 91 the total number of designers in the DIA’s Hall of Fame, which recognises designers from throughout Australia who have made an important and notable contribution to the Australian design profession.
