Thanks to a clever refurbishment by the team at DesignOffice, the Tait showroom in Redfern now provides an immersive and charming customer experience.

Designed with space in mind, the showroom is clearly divided into product sections and features a fresh colour palette and a clever use of lighting, making the Sydney showroom an ideal backdrop for Tait to showcase its range of outdoor furniture and accessories.

The Redfern showroom’s refurbishment was completed by Collingwood based DesignOffice. The architecture and interior design practice co-director Mark Simpson says the biggest challenge was drawing more attention to the back of the showroom. “The space is quite deep and there are no windows at the back so we needed to create a focus. We increased the light level and clad the rear wall with plywood to make the back of the showroom a destination in itself.”

The team at DesignOffice spent days in the Tait showroom to properly observe the browsing patterns of customers, resulting in a new layout design where divisions are created between product groupings. “It’s like a series of vignettes that guide you through the store,” Mark explains.

A colour palette of green, charcoal, salmon and blue complement the Tait product range on offer. Fabric screens suspended from ceiling rails help to contain the view from the front of the store.

The products remain the star of the show though, with the space now an even more fitting home for its crafted designs. Fresh colours, product zones and focused lighting have created a warm and inviting space for customers to explore.
