Hidden in Victoria’s Yarra Valley region, the Levantine Hill Estate offers a new benchmark for wine lovers and day-trippers.

Working within a new space designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects, the Levantine Hill Estate saw Molecule engaged to create a cellar door for the acclaimed wine brand.

The didactic steel structure of the shell reflects the logic of the soaring roof, with an airy, structural atmosphere continued internally through sharp cubic joinery elements. Providing storage, product display and working zones for wait staff, the functionality of the joinery elements creates crucial scaling devices within the overarching form.

In order to create warmth within the large, industrial space, the space features tactile, self-finishing materials including black steel, raw timber and aniline leather with mirrored surfaces. Along with this, finer aspects of the interior has been inspired from the surrounding geography: the tasting and dispense bars employ a repetitive tectonic form of shifting brass panels to reflect the undulating landscape order.

The Levantine Hill interior is a highly tailored space within an iconic architectural substrate. The distinctive result offers a memorable backdrop for relaxing, enjoying quality food and of course, enjoying wine.
