Attention to sound reverberation is important, if not essential to any great design work. Therefore, the acoustic experience of a space needs to be a design consideration and priority from the origin of a project. Sound itself is
complex, but dealing with excessive noise in spaces doesn’t need to be.

Spaces can be designed beautifully, however if the sound within that space is uncomfortable, then so too will be the experience. The purpose of the space is at risk, of not being the focus of the participant’s encounter with the environment if the acoustic balance is left untreated.

Instead, discomfort becomes the overriding experience and the work of the architect or designer can become undone through distraction.
