The moment you knew you wanted to be a designer.

I went to art college by default as I was chucked out of high school. I did a year foundation course in which I was exposed to product design, photography, graphics, animation, fashion, etc. I loved it all and didn¹t really want to chose one discipline. However the design college, like most places, wanted me to commit to one thing to make their administration easier. I chose visual communication as it was broader and could utilise all the other disciplines in its execution. at the same time I saw The Face magazine and iD magazine in the UK and was blown over by editorial design and telling stories.

Favourite local landmark building.

There is a disused building opposite the fire station on Castlereagh Street in Sydney which I love. I love the Paramount building across from Longrain. I love Tony Owens Moebius house, Dover Heights on Military Road. I love Durbach Block Jaggers house cliff house (Holman House)

Favourite material.

That’s mean, how can you have one?
Ok, paper

Favourite international building or landmark.

I don’t have favourite anythings! There are so many old and new things that are amazing that’s impossible to single out one but here’s one anyway.  Corbusier’s Villa Savoye à Poissy, France.

Biggest career moment.

Today. I am alive, healthy and have an incredible team and family around me to play with. Great projects and opportunities to immerse myself in.

Dream project to work on (real or imaginary).

This may sound crazy but I don¹t think like that. I couldn¹t imagine other projects my real passion is the unknown and when a opportunity hits you out of the blue it gives me masses of stimulus.

Dream person to collaborate with.

My clients and my team.

Favourite decade of design.

Now

Favourite chair.

Anything Eames

Concern for the design industry in the coming decade.

That we don’t take the opportunity and responsibility seriously to design a better world.

Which items in the workplace can you not live without.

My team, my partner Miya, my fat lamy pencil, large moleskin note book, I pad, iphone, internet coffee, great light, music,

The most unusual/interesting thing about the way you work.

Nothing very unusual but I am often surprised how few design companies design for their clients success. I am passionate about ’inspiring ideas to life’ so they create positive impact and value to our clients and the world.
