Sydney CBD’s Temperance Lane will be lit up with activity and the art through a series of live painting, art, sculpture, media facades and interactive digital works.

“As a group of artists living in the inner city, we want to provide a template for the kind of cultural activity that could be replicated in laneways around the city, ” says artist and curator Mark Titmarsh.

In an effort to drive them away from illegal graffiti and petty crime, this initiative turns the spotlight on forgotten dark places of Sydney as art venues.

“At the moment these shadow zones in Sydney are being wasted when really they could be used as significant meeting places in the city”, says Mark Titmarsh, UTS Visual Communication Lecturer and curator.

Developed by the UTS Designing Out Crime Research Centre, the gallery will feature works by Deb and Bridge, artists from ICAN gallery, Peloton Gallery, MOP projects, Mark Titmarsh, and Urban Media and Interactive Studio.
