Woven Image make a splash at Sydney Indesign 2015

Visitors to Sydney Indesign’s Galleria Space were welcomed by a series of breakout spaces across the venue provided by Woven Image, with the latest release colours of Echo panel on display.
“The installations demonstrated the Echo Panels’ flexibility, versatility and aesthetic merit. The seven new colours in the Woven Image Rituals collection pay homage to Minnie Pwerle’s artworks and reuse versions of several of her original pieces. The iconic indigenous artist’s paintings are beloved for their rich use of colours and shapes.
Each Echo Panel was linked by customised copper joinings made especially for Sydney Indesign. These showcased Echo Panels were 100% PET (60% recycled) and have received the GECA tick of approval.
The Ritual collection represents a series of Minnie’s paintings with a design theme of free-flowing and parallel lines in a pendulous outline, depicting traditional body-painting designs used in women’s Aboriginal ceremonies. This interweaving of Minnie’s art with their design and textiles has been ongoing since 2012.

Woven Image is certainly no stranger to collaboration – they have collaborated with leading Australian artists and designers including John Cobourn, Bruce Gould, Dinosaur Designs, Reptile Design, Mambo, Bang, Julie Paterson and more.
They continue to champion the task of bringing art and design together and are a key example of why the design industry should value industries outside of its own.
