It’s hard to miss KE-ZUs fleet of new delivery vehicles as they make their way around Sydney dropping off coveted furniture and lighting by the likes of Ross Lovegrove and Jaime Hayon. Their Mercedes, Volkswagen and Hyundai vans have been given a distinctive designer makeover by acclaimed Melbourne- based graphic artist Georgia Perry.

Perry was enlisted by KE-ZU’s Mark Swanton to come up with a funky image that would celebrate original design . “Mark wanted something that would be professional, but bold and individual,” Perry says. “He wanted the vans to showcase in an abstract kind of way that KE-ZU is a furniture store that dares to be a little different.”

Starting with the blank canvas of the vehicles’ jet black paint work, Perry’s approach was startlingly innovative. Working by hand, she sketched a loose, expressive design that captures elements of furniture sold by KE-ZU, juxtaposed with the abstract symbols of an eye and a love heart to convey the passion and visual soul of the company.

“I love the result,” Perry says. “It was certainly a different canvas to work on. Most of my work exists in a book, or on a poster. To have something driving around the city with my design on it is pretty fun.”

KE-ZU is equally pleased. “I’d been searching for an artist to capture what we are all about and Georgia seemed to nail it,” Swanton says. “The vans are already getting quite a lot of attention. They seem to put a smile on people’s faces.”
