UTS HONOURS GRADUATE EXHIBITION

Civic spaces were first prevalent in the times of the Greek Agora and early Roman society. These spaces allowed the individual to be represented within society and for society to be expressed within the individual. The sense of community, society and social function that existed in this original model of civic space, has changed alongside society. Is it possible therefore that we can redefine and heighten our understanding of the civic sphere to suit the requirements of todays society? Might we term this “Post-Civic”?

Following this train of thought the 2013 Honours students from the Bachelor of Interior and Spatial Design at the University of Technology Sydney as led by Professor Benedict Anderson, Thomas Cole and Felicity Wheeler have explored and researched this concept of Post-Civic Society, how it relates to Parramatta and more specifically the chosen site of the Old Kings School.
