ABC Arts’ ongoing series Design Shots takes us into the homes and studios of object makers, architects and visual designers to find out what the work of Australia’s best designers can tell us about the country today. Trent Jansen features here.
From ABC: “In New South Wales, Trent Jansen is a designer who has long been interested in issues of sustainability. He has a background making objects from recycled materials but his focus today is on countering the seasonal throw-away consumer culture by making furniture and home wares intended to last for generations.
For his most recent series he’s finding inspiration in the mythical stories that bridge Indigenous and non-Indigenous history.
It is, he tells us, an attempt to make things that are quintessentially Australian.” See the video here.
