High Tech Talks

From 23 – 29 October 2008 Australia will welcome three of the world’s biggest names in design. The Campana brothers and Massimo Morozzi will be speaking in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne as part of Edra’s ‘High Tech – Handmade’ tour.

Designers Fernando and Humberto Campana are Brazil’s most famous creatives. The brothers take found objects, every-day materials and ‘waste’ products and turn them into unique design pieces.

The two work closely together in their studio in São Paulo, designing an array of objects from chairs made with stuffed toys (one made entirely of stuffed alligators) to chairs made of clear PVC garden hose.

The brothers gained widespread attention with their ‘Vermelha’, ‘Azul’ and ‘Verde’ (Red, Blue and Green) chairs – inspired by a tangle of cord found in a São Paulo market. Using over 400 metres of cord, the chair saw the brothers move onto the international stage and into industrial production, being picked up by Edra.

Joining the brothers on their Australian tour is Italian designer Massimo Morozzi. One of Italy’s best-known and most respected designers, Morozzi has worked on projects from Rome Airport to Louis Vuitton in Paris and created designs for Alessi, Progetti, Mazzei and Edra.

Massimo is currently working as the Creative Director for Edra, a company built on fostering designers’ expression through innovative design.
