A look from Locker Group for the environmentally friendly corporate headquarters that shines on every level.
Construction commenced on a new environmentally friendly corporate headquarters for Energex in 2008, situated within a mixed-use development in Brisbane’s inner-city.
For the six-storey building developed by FKP – the urban renewal took a green focus giving Locker Group an opportunity to shine on every level.
Locker Group provided builder FKP with a functional and aesthetic façade, which gleams with the reflected glow of the sun and demonstrated Locker Group’s ability to manage logistics and production timeframes synergistically to meet the radically tight project timeframes.
The distinctive screening was manufactured at Locker Group’s Rocklea facility from Planar 441A, a 2mm diameter 5005-H34 grade Aluminium wire with an aperture of 2.8 x 20mm.
The sheets measured 5400 x 1400mm, so special palletising was required to transport to Locker Group’s Sydney site for anodising.
Despite their size, the individual sheets only weigh 14kg, making them easy and safe for manual labour to handle.
As a six Green Star building, non-mechanical climate control measures such as the screening of the Western part of the façade are an important part of meeting the Green Star (Commercial) targets.
Being in busy Fortitude Valley – with roughly 90,000 vehicles a day passing the building – Locker Group’s workmanship on Energex HQ project will be widely noticed, for many years to come.
