All in The Family: iGuzzini
Published

In Indesign #60, we tell the story of Italian architectural lighting company, iGuzzini.
Family companies are renowned for their personal touch, however vision, courage and rigour are also powerful virtues.
The concept of the family company is embedded in Italy’s cultural identity – a cornerstone of its peoples’ economic resilience at home, and success abroad. However the stereotype of the mum-and-papa grocery on the corner, where the family lives upstairs, is a far cry from the reality of the family-run architectural lighting brand.
With almost 200 million Euros in sales across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America in 2013, iGuzzini enjoys an esteemed reputation for quality, design and innovation, and collaborates with some of the most famous names in architecture on high profile projects.
In Indesign 60, we trace the brand’s history, from a fledgling industry in the early 20th Century to its current status as a globally respected company. In particular, we look at how its dedication to a core set of values that integrate family bonds with professionalism has given it the agility and vigour to navigate financial crises and the evolution of the lighting industry, and continue to flourish.
Indesign #60 is on sale March 12
iGuzzini launch their first Australian showroom in Sydney on February 27th, at Jones Bay Wharf.
