3daysofdesign saw Louis Poulsen unveil two incredible lighting collections

For a decade now, 3daysofdesign has served as the premier platform in Copenhagen to showcase and celebrate exceptional design. The most recent edition, which took place last month, was the biggest one yet and placed great emphasis on Danish design excellence. 

Louis Poulsen x Home in Heven

This year, Denmark’s most revered lighting brand, Louis Poulsen, caught festival goers by surprise with reinterpreted icons from the Pale Rose collection in a bolder, quirkier vein thanks to a collaboration with uber-cool New York glass artists – Breanna Box and Peter Dupont of Home in Heven. 

The model couple who started their glass blowing business during COVID-19 lockdown put their own stamp on celebrated works by Poul Henningsen and Vilhem Lauritzen. The result was one-of-a-kind glass lamps with swirling colours, devil horns and octopus tentacles. This remarkable collection, born from an unexpected pairing, bestows Louis Poulsen’s understated and classic designs with an instant edginess, captivating a younger, hip generation.

Each piece in the collection is meticulously crafted by the talented duo, in collaboration with Elliot Walker of Blowfish Glass. They were showcased at The Hut, outside Louis Poulsen’s Copenhagen showroom during 3daysofdesign and will be sold at an auction later this year, with a significant portion of the proceeds being donated to charity.

AW23 collection

Aside from the Louis Poulsen x Home in Heven collection, Louis Poulsen also showcased its latest AW23 collection at 3daysofdesign. There was a myriad of new releases, from pendants to table lamps and new lamp colours, which will be made available for purchase in autumn 2023.

The cute and small lamp trend is here to stay. The new Panthella 250 Portable is a petite version of the popular Panthella Table Lamp designed by Verner Panton. The rechargeable table lamp with a shade that is just 250mm in diameter is ideal for tables and bookshelves, and even outside at a garden dinner, creating cosy settings both indoor and outdoors.

There was also the limited edition PH 2/2 Luna Table Lamp. This iconic lamp, originally crafted by the Danish luminary Poul Henningsen in 1939 as an adjustable bedside lamp, returned as a slightly taller version in untreated, brushed brass finish.

An exemplar of Danish design heritage, the VL 56 Pendant, a 1950s design icon by Vilhelm Lauritzen returned in both chrome and brass. As opposed to a more matte finish on the original cylinder, the new versions have a uniform shine, with the chrome plated and polished brass finishes, giving a more contemporary look.

Yet another ‘50s icon presented in five new colours was the AJ lamp series designed by Arne Jacobsen. The new colour palette includes Warm Sand, Soft Yellow, Dusty Blue, Warm Grey and Electric Orange.

Also on show was Louis Poulsen’s iconic outdoor lamps and bollards with new editions in black, including classics like Bysted Garden, Flindt, PH 3-2½, and AJ. These round up Louis Poulsen’s AW23 collection beautifully, providing lighting solutions for various types of project, be it commercial or residential.
