The traditional showroom has seen a shift towards a more experiential journey through a visually engaging narrative. It is a style guide to an entire brand, reflecting what defines them as creators of pure artistry. Ambassadors for beautiful architecture, Sculptform unveils the design for its new studio showroom in the heart of Melbourne.

Purveyors in versatile timber systems, Sculptform turns creative concepts into tangible architectural solutions. Sculptform briefed the award-winning global design studio, Woods Bagot in the creation of this unique project. The showroom is a new venture for the company – reintroducing them into the industry as passionate collaborators and innovative thinkers.

Previously known as Woodform Architectural, the company rebranded in late 2018. With its entire manufacturing facility in Bendigo, Victoria, managing director, Jeremy Napier defines it as the company’s logical next step into growing the company in the middle of the design industry itself.

“We’re a creative enterprise building a reputation and a product range beyond our timber origins. It makes sense to be physically closer to industry groups, other manufacturers, and architectural collaborators, many of whom have a presence in or close to the city,” expresses Napier.

Woods Bagot developed a design concept that paid homage to curiosity and the sculptural beauty that Sculptform is known for. Exquisitely captivating, the sculptural form of the showroom is an immersive adventure into the company philosophy. The showroom will double as an event space that engages with diverse industry sectors and the wider Melbourne design community.

A physical loop was formed to guide the individual through different processes – housing a vibrant social space, events auditorium, digital gallery, meeting rooms and workstation line the perimeter of the showroom. At the heart of it all is the Co-Lab, a state-of-the-art workshop and creativity incubator.

Principal and design leader Bruno Mendes wanted to create a canvas that celebrates the company’s core values. Deeply imbued in the showroom’s architectural fabric, Mendes calls the design concept for the Sculptform showroom: a homage to curiosity.

Sculptform continues to evolve and transform our everyday spaces with modular meticulously crafted feature wall, ceiling and façade systems.

“In celebrating the Sculptform process, the journey is designed to be an intriguing and engaging one,” adds Mendes. “The products and the processes are the heroes, and what visitors will experience is a physical connection Sculptform’s work – something that can’t be found online.”
