Buildings are as diverse as the people that inhabit them and this year the entries to the 2021 INDE.Awards The Building category showcases the diversity of our Indo-Pacific region as well as the range of use and requirement. Whether a building is large or small, a commercial project or a home, The Building presents the very best innovative built forms today.

As supporter of The Building, Neolith transforms imagination into functionality much as the architects and designers have achieved in the 12 projects in The Building shortlist. Neolith’s impressive high-quality stone is the ideal product to enhance every project and the breadth of the range ensures that there is a perfect colour, texture and pattern for every application.

In reviewing the projects shortlisted in The Building category, Andrea Johnston, Marketing Manager APAC & Middle East at Neolith remarked, “We are aware the Indo Pacific region is one of the most diverse parts of the world and leaders in intelligent architecture and design. The emerging trends taking place here will shape the future of architecture, in Neolith we see open, multi-functional, versatile spaces, where design is combined with sustainability. Now in nearly post-pandemic times we have to better understand the ways we inhabit buildings, with increasingly strict regulations, we will see a desire for construction materials with inherent properties that actively protect the public inside and outside the home such as Neolith.”

With such creative projects and disparate offerings in this year’s The Building category, it is plain to see that the best of architecture and design is making its presence felt around our region. Each building is the epitome of fine design with sustainable initiatives with sensitivity to place and culture. While each is very different, they are all paragons of ingenuity and originality and raise the design bar for function and form.

Commenting on projects that made an impression from the shortlist, Johnston said, “The shortlisted façade projects are impressive and special in their own way, Neolith feels strongly identified with each of them as a unique space. From Jacob’s environmentally friendly factory in Saigon to SCION Timber Innovation Hub, both clearly identifying with Neolith’s philosophy and commitment to being a green company and achieving Carbon Neutral Status in 2019. Not to mention the stunning Collins Arch in Australia, the mix of premium commercial office space, residential apartments, 5-star hotel, in conjunction with retail resonates with Neolith’s unmatched performance in endless indoor and outdoor applications, from a skyscraper façade to a kitchen countertop.”

The INDE.Awards gala event and INDE.Summit on 5th August in Sydney will be a time for all of us to gather and celebrate great design and as Johnston remarked, “We are looking forward to meeting with architects and designers like Neolith who are increasingly seeking sustainable material options that have already been recycled or can be in the future, such as Neolith’s sintered stone.
