The Master Builders QLD office renovation celebrates the association’s rich history while also ushering the brand into a world of activity-based working.
As the leading voice of the building and construction community in Queensland, Master Builders is a force to reckon with. The association supports members in running profitable businesses while also assisting with representation in key industry bodies. When talks of a refurbishment of the Master Builders’ QLD office surfaced, its commitment to change seemed evident. Joining in the organisations design journey was Ellivo Architects.
While the design needed to factor in the association’s heritage and its passion for the built form, it also had to create an environment that promoted a sense of connection between the members and the team. Design functionality and flexibility were also a priority.
Throughout the fit-out, Ellivo Architects has added in touches of traditional materials in their raw form to help visitors have a deeper understanding of the association’s origins. Some areas have touches of timber, some copper, while others can be seen sporting steel and brass details. This creates a sense of journey as one moves from one room to another within the building.
To promote connectivity between members and the office staff, the design team has created breakout zones, small team meeting rooms as well as spaces for people to collect casually in. Much of the lower ground floor has been transformed into an outdoor café-like lunch area complete with extensive end-of-trip facilities.
With a flexible and effective work environment being a key requirement in this project, Ellivo Architects decided to bring UCI on board. UCI – known for its expertise in workstation design – has installed its in-house sit-to-stand electric workstation, Interchange, throughout the office.
For seating, Ellivo chose Baron, a cutting edge ergonomic chair by Okamura developed in collaboration with Giugiaro Design. As part of the renovation, UCI has also supplied additional furniture; Okamura Muffle, Cosmos Storage range including Tambour Door, Lateral file + Planter and Kinetik desk accessories.
The Master Builders QLD office now offers a sense of discovery and journey as you move through the space. The design also reveals the association’s deep-rooted sense of commitment to growing connectivity and creating more opportunity for workplace activities.
