M/24 By Match: Pushing the future of Perth forward

Step inside Perth’s newest multi-residential development: M/24 by Match.

Setting A New Standard

Just outside of the Perth CBD, the inner-west city suburb of Leederville boasts some of the state’s most breathtaking beachfronts. Becoming increasingly popular as a booming residential locale, the area’s eclectic and diverse culture has recently been dubbed a new lifestyle hot-spot, with boutiques, restaurants, an arthouse cinema dotted throughout the area. Setting high standards by such an exciting scene, the suburbs’ developments seek to match to not only match the expectations for local residents, but truly exceed them through the power of exacting design.

This is where Match, a WA-based boutique development brand and part of M/Group are uniquely placed. Throwing the doors open on their recent development – M/24 – this multi-residential development features four commercial units on the ground floor, with thirty-nine residential apartments across the top-most levels. Distinctive architectural details and a truly unique material palette that marries seamlessly with the project’s deceptively simple design. Although characterised by a highly resolved design, the project has emerged through a complex design intent that takes inspiration from the eclectic and buzzing nature of the Leederville surrounds.

Opening out onto vistas of both the Leederville Oval and Perth’s ever-growing skyline, the original use of the site for M/24 (Carr Place) was the once-home of the drink company Golden West Aerated Water, since 1902. Internationally recognised firm ARM established the project’s guiding contemporaneity – seeking to bring to the area a bold, modern statement directing the future of inner-city living while still remaining alive to the site’s rich heritage and even richer diverse community. The building’s screen facade was generated by digitally modelling the patterns formed when bubbles interplay – a subtle, loving nod to the soda factory that once stood as the lifeblood of the area. Consequently, dynamism became the order of the day – with the mesmeric pattern flowing throughout, known as the Voronoi Tessellations, to evoke the idea of M/24 ‘bubbling’ from the site.

Across interior spaces, M/24‘s design team sought to strip away interior elements to a “blank canvas”, thus inviting future occupants to make each dwelling truly their own. Contemporary finishes abound: sleek gloss cupboards; vinyl-wrapped joinery; open-plan floorplates throughout the kitchen areas accented by a stunning composite-stone benchtop and mirrored splashback. Confident, svelte and oh-so slick, it comes as no surprise that Bosch appliances were specified throughout these kitchen spaces, with this carefully considered decision being met with acclaim by prospective buyers.

According to Michael Read, director of M/Group’s construction arm – M/Construction – explains the rationale behind this specification:

“We feel it represents value for money and has an excellent reputation for quality and reliability. The purchasers immediately recognised the Bosch brand being a German engineered product.”

For those who revel in the love of all things cookery and cuisine, M/24‘s kitchen’s make a bold statement. Being of superb quality – from finishes all the way through to appliances at hand – the spaces loom large in the final decision making process to procure property in the complex.

Up Close: The Appliance Spec’

The Bosch appliances included in the apartments (pictured above):

  • HBA11B150A Series 4 60cm oven
  • DHI623GAU Series 4 60cm slideout rangehood
  • PKE645C17A Series 2 60cm ceramic cooktop
  • And a stainless steel freestanding dishwasher

The classic built-in oven offers four heating modes to offer the perfect settings for any dish. With features such as 3D HotAir Plus, the oven allows you to cook on up to 3 levels simultaneously with even heat distribution. Bosch have also been awarded a 5-star Canstar Blue award for most satisfied customers in 2016-17 in the oven category.

Living In Design

Given that the reality of our everyday is coloured by busy lifestyles and difficulty to ‘unplug’, the interior elements of the M/24 spaces bely the user-focused approach that design teams took for the project. Glass-ceramic finishes on the cooktops are at once stylish and incredibly simple to clean. Thoughtful design cues are evident everywhere: slideout rangehoods; pinpoint perfect joinery that slides away into cabinetry; open plan floorplates and generous surface spaces wherever the eye alights. M/24‘s f=beautifully appointed kitchens encourage the budding chef in us all – and the 24-hour gourmet supermarket just a stone’s throw away is yet another invitation to further explore our inner epicureans.

Evidently M/24‘s central location in Leederville brings important convenience value to the project – in which, transport and access to city amenities index high. But just as Bosch appliances are designed to make your everyday life easier, so too does M/24 want to harness the power of design to support and simplify the lifestyles of its residents.

With M/24 being central to all the happenings in and around Leederville, residents will be able to enjoy the flavours and fashion of the inner-city suburb while having easy access to transport and the city itself. Just as Bosch appliances are designed to make everyday life easier, M/24 too has been designed to perfection to support the lifestyles of its residents.
