Appliances are increasingly adding value into Australia’s crucial residential development projects

Australia is undergoing a residential development boom. Within this climate, architects and designers are increasingly turning to appliances to add value back into our most inspiring residential projects.

In an idyllic location surrounded by beaches and national parks, Woolooware Bay captures the epic beauty of the surrounding landscape while still providing a buzzing hub of activity, entertainment, recreation and leisure. It is within this sublime location on one of Australia’s most iconic coastal centres near Cronulla NSW that the master planned development of Woolooware Bay Town Centre springs forth.

This new development brings together the talents of multi-disciplinary design firm Scott Carver who put together the masterplan, while award-winning architectural firm Turner brings life to this new benchmark for sustainable coastal community development. Capital Bluestone was selected as the joint venture partner for the Cronulla Sharks to Development Manage the project. Capital Bluestone were tasked with ensuring a collaborative approach and proper implementation of innovative solutions to the overall masterplan, while maintaining engagement with the local community. Stage 1 of the Woolooware Bay Town Centre was completed in December 2016 and Stage 2 in May 2018. Stage 3, the final residential stage in the western precinct, will begin construction in June 2018.

Having already received two Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) NSW Excellence Awards, the development includes 643 residential apartments and a 17,800sqm retail centre, bringing greatly sought after high-quality living and retail to the area as well as a vibrant new food and healthcare precinct. The completed Stage 1 & 2 comprises 405 apartments in five separate buildings arranged around an elevated landscaped courtyard, with the buildings capturing glorious views across Woolooware Bay to the city. Residents also enjoy the magnificent community facilities including an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, gym, spa, sauna and rooftop cinema.

When developing the concept for the new resort-like facilities, emphasis was placed on creating an environment that both complimented and enhanced the waterfront location. Inspiration was found in the nostalgic concept of a ‘beach-house’ while also acknowledging international modern coastal architecture. The result is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional coastal aesthetic.

The apartment interiors exude an understated sophistication that references the beautiful natural surroundings. Woolooware Bay’s stunning local environment, rich history and scenic outlook provided great foundations for true inspiration. Materiality was important in this project, with a palette of quality and robust materials being used throughout, to ensure longevity in the high-quality development. The natural palette also brings a sense of warmth and comfort through familiarity.

As the materials throughout the entire project were so carefully considered, the same consideration needed to be applied when selecting an appliance brand to partner with for the apartment kitchens and laundries. The decision was to specify Bosch home appliances throughout all of the apartments in Stage 1, 2 & 3 of Woolooware Bay Town Centre. Matt Crews from Capital Bluestone says, “Bosch was chosen for this project because of the fantastic quality and reputation of the brand. They have a great variety of choices with a great household name.” When purchasing apartments off the plan, the feedback has all been positive, with buyers very happy to hear that Bosch appliances were included in their homes.

The kitchens themselves feature timber laminate joinery in two beautiful colour schemes, with a herringbone pattern feature on the front of the island bench. The mirrored splashback, also available in two colours, is specified to compliment the joinery colour scheme. Each kitchen comes fully equipped with a Bosch  Series 6 built-in 60cm oven, a Bosch  Series 2 stainless steel 60cm gas cooktop and a Bosch  semi-integrated dishwasher. Buyers also had an upgrade option to include laundry appliances. The upgrade included a Bosch Series 4 7kg tumble dryer and a Bosch Series 4 front load washing machine.

The German engineering in the Bosch  appliances ensures reliability and outstanding quality in a sleek contemporary design. For generations, Bosch  home appliances have been making everyday life a bit easier and now the residents of Woolooware Bay Town Centre will be able to enjoy these conveniences every day in their own homes as they enjoy the views of the picturesque surrounds.
