Change is always a constant, and these latest appointments, promotions, new office openings and names changes at BKA Architecture, Hames Sharley, Hayball, ClarkeHopkinsClarke and more, can attest to that.

We’re on the move

There are plenty of people and practices to celebrate in this edition of On the Move.

Architectus

National practice Architectus is pleased to announce the promotion of Farhad Haidari and Silvia Cupik to Principal and the new appointment of Principal Mark Talbot. Farhad joined Architectus’ leadership team over four years ago when he started as an Associate, his latest promotion to Principal comes with his 20 years of experience in multi-residential and mixed-use developments. Silvia Cupik has over 15 years of experience and joined Architectus in 2017 as a Senior Associate, her promotion is backed by her passion for the design and delivery of complex projects. 

Newly joined Principal Mark Talbot comes highly regarded as he brings 28 years of experience across the architecture, interior architecture and industrial design disciplines, bringing significant value to Architectus’ interior architecture discipline.

 

 

BKA Architecture

After two and a half years with BKA Architecture, Jesus Garcia has been appointed an Associate Director of the practice. With over 14 years’ architectural and urban design experience throughout Australia, Venezuela, India, and Spain, Jesus brings international experience, a diverse and highly developed technical skillset, and outstanding leadership abilities to the BKA team.

ClarkeHopkinsClarke

After 60 years of practice in Melbourne, ClarkeHopkinsClarke has announced the opening of its first NSW office in Sydney’s Surry Hills. The new office comes on the back of strong cross-sector growth and a solid mission to create healthier, better connected and more liveable communities.

Heading up the NSW office is Jordan Curran as Partner, where he will lead retail and mixed-use projects. A Sydney-sider, Jordan brings 10 years experience in delivering complex mixed-use precincts, shopping centre and smart cities across Australia.

In the Melbourne teams, two new appointments have also been announced. Cath Muhlebach has been promoted to partner after 18 years with a speciality in stakeholder engagement, along with a strong interest in mental health design. Cath encourages our design teams to keep listening to clients, responding to briefs and using budgets strategically to create the biggest possible impact. She has served on boards and committees and understands the challenges of getting projects funded.

James Kelly has also been announced as a partner, leading the studio’s seniors living & care sector. James has experience across commercial, heritage and multi-residential work, and advocates for integrated communities.

 

Hames Sharley

National studio Hames Sharley has announced three new senior leaders across three of its practices. In Melbourne Harold Perks has accepted the role of Director where he will be leading the retail and town centre portfolios. Harold brings a decade of experience in the retail sector.

In Perth, Derek Hays, who has been with Hames Sharley for 20 years, steps up as National Design Forum leader. The Design Forum is a “body that has consistently put in place systems and inspiration to create better design outcomes for clients and the communities we serve,” says Hames Sharley’s Managing Director Cailin Howard.

Leon Gouws has been promoted to Senior Associate in Adelaide. After just a year with Hames Sharley, Leon has shown exemplary leadership and creative input, which has garnered this latest promotion.

 

Hayball

Across three studios in Australia, Hayball has announced the promotion of several team members to Senior Associate and Associate. The promotions reflect Hayball’s ongoing commitment to developing dynamic talent within the practice. “We’re pleased to recognise these new leaders, not only for the contribution they have already made to Hayball, but also for the exceptional professionalism, creativity and vision they bring to our firm, says Tom Jordan, Hayball’s Managing Director.

The following people have been promoted to Senior Associate: Erin Collins, Yuyuen Low, Yip Kok Peng, Alex Ray, Liza Ringdahl and Heidi Sinclair.

The following people have been promoted to Associate: Andrew Fong, Lynette Julian, Natalia Krysiak, Jade Lew, Jeremy Marsden, Oliver Monk and Jolyon Sykes.

 

Make Architecture renamed as Studio Bright

After operating for 13 years as Make Architecture under the helm of Founding Principal Mel Bright, the studio has announced its new name together with new branding and new website. Introducing Studio Bright.

The name acknowledges Mel’s ongoing leadership of the practice and also the collaborative team environment of the entire studio that collectively contributes to good design outcomes.

 

Warren and Mahoney

Warren and Mahoney has shared its latest appointment of Sven Ollman as Principal in its Sydney studio. The new leadership position comes off the back of the firm’s recent $1 billion of projects in developments across Australia.

Ollmann brings more than 25 years’ experience working at the forefront of sustainable commercial design across Europe and Australia. Ollmann began his career in Europe before moving to Sydney in 2002 to lead the Foster + Partners team on the award-winning design for the landmark Deutsche Bank tower, one of the first genuine international commercial buildings in Sydney. Ollmann is excited to get involved in strategy for a range of developments across the business as Warren and Mahoney heads up several large-scale projects in Sydney, where he’ll be located.
