Big moves were made in the month of May 2021, involving changes to the upper echelons of ASPECT Studios, Cosentino, dwp, Hames Sharley, McVeigh and SJB. You’ll find all the details below…

 

ASPECT Studios

ASPECT Studios is delighted to announce the appointment of Jack Qian who will be joining Stephen Buckle as a studio director for ASPECT’s Chinese operations, in Shanghai.

“This leadership appointment underscores ASPECT Studios focus on driving the long-term growth and sustainability of the practice and highlights our commitment to clients, the country and community, and growth in the region that is centred on a deep understanding of local culture and client needs” Ivan Ross, CEO of ASPECT Studios commented.

Jack Qian

Jack Qian joins ASPECT Studios with over 15 years of industry experience and brings additional complementary sector knowledge to the table, further strengthening the practice’s experience across Asia. Qian’s portfolio is underpinned by a collaborative, tailored approach, focusing on the awareness of the human experience and achieving positive environmental impacts. He is passionate about sustaining healthy studios with effective practices, processes, and culture to support his team, clients, and the delivery of successful legacies for the world’s habitats.

 

Cosentino

Cosentino Group has appointed Álvaro González as the new Vice President (VP) of Asia- Pacific (APAC).

In addition to being part of the company’s global executive committee, González is now responsible for expanding and driving Cosentino’s growth strategy within the APAC market, including Southeast Asia, East Asia and Oceania. His role will be to lead business development, and the areas of operations, marketing and distribution in the region.

Álvaro González

Born in Madrid, Álvaro González brings nearly two decades of business development and supply chain experience to his current role. He joined the Cosentino Group in 2013 and this is his fourth position with the company. Most recently, he was regional director for the Southeastern United States. From Miami Cosentino’s headquarters, he led business expansion in the states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, South Virginia and Puerto Rico. He was previously regional director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

 

dwp

design worldwide partnership welcomes Dion Gosling to the newly created Design Director and Sector Leader role focused on Sports + Recreation facilities.

This follows closely on the appointment of Leonard Lee to a similar role for the Hospitality design sector. Leading Melbourne architect and designer, Mel Malik also joins dwp to head up the Melbourne studio.

Dion Gosling

Dion Gosling has over 25-years’ personal experience and empathy for recreation and leisure-based social structures, working with multiple stakeholder groups with varying levels of complexity. As a leading architect for sports, community and recreation facilities and former NZ Hockey Black Stick Olympian and New Zealand Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Gosling has an innate knowledge of sports and community projects, from the high-performance elite environment to the grass-roots community level.

 

Hames Sharley

Hames Sharley has announced two senior interior designer appointments in Perth.

Interiors Principal Hollie Raymond-Baker announced the appointments as “an exciting milestone for our team, increasing our depth and capability in concept design and exceptional project execution.”

Two senior interior designers, Ben Fetherstonhaugh (left) and Jessica Green (right), have joined Hames Sharley’s team in Perth.

Ben Fetherstonhaugh

Interior Architect Ben Fetherstonhaugh joins Hames Sharley as a multi-disciplinary designer, having worked between architecture and interior design, bringing experience of several projects within workplace and retail interiors from across Australia. In 2018, Ben was a recipient of the Australian Interior Design Awards for Commercial Workplace and later received an award for product design in 2019 from the Design Institute of Australia.

Jessica Green

Originally from Perth, Jess has spent the last few years working in Melbourne, most recently with Carr. Jess draws on design and delivery experience across various projects sizes and sectors. She has previously developed unique Activity Based Workplace environments, boutique hotels spaces, destination commercial client floors and executive offices.

 

McVeigh

Long standing and highly respected Queensland architectural and engineering firm, McVeigh Consultants, has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to drive the 33 year old business forwards, promising a bright future ahead. Gray commenced in the role as CEO this month (May 2021) taking over from the firm’s founder Michael McVeigh, who remains in the business and is going to turn his focus back to his primary passion of design and client relations.

“Yasmine has excellent business and people skills that we know are going to take McVeigh into a strong and exciting future,” said Mr McVeigh. “It was important to find someone that not only had exceptional executive ability but that would have the passion and creativity required to take the business to the next level.”

Yasmine Gray

Yasmine Gray was formerly Executive Director at leading communications firm Red Havas and is highly regarded in the industry as a Fellow of the Public Relations Industry of Australia and has worked with a wide range of organisations across many sectors providing her business and strategic counsel including construction, architecture, logistics, resources, engineering, health, education, retail, tourism, travel, lifestyle, hospitality, not for profit, industry associations, franchise and more.

 

SJB

Earlier in the month of May, SJB announced a string of promotions, recognising the emerging leaders of its Sydney studio.
