New and emerging designers will exhibit in Sydney in 2009, with a green twist and a lot of chairs.

The Australian International Furniture fair 2009 will once again welcome The Edge design exhibition for new and emerging designers in Sydney.
Now in its sixth year The Edge will feature 60 products and will now include a ‘Green’ Award, recognising the best new ecologically sustainable products this category includes the ‘Zeopod Pouf’ [pictured] by WA’s Wilma van Boxtel.
If things get a little too much for you at the fair you won’t be short of a place to sit, with over half the entries being either chairs or stools – from rocking chairs to modular cushions.
The competition will Award four prizes: The Edge Concept Award for the best prototype designed by a professional designer, The Edge Student Award designed by a tertiary student, The Edge Commercial Award for the best new commercial release by a professional designer and The Edge Green Award.
The student category received a number of entries from institutions including UTS, RMIT and Lidcome and East Gippsland TAFEs.
The Edge 2009 will be hald at The Australian International Furniture Fair, Sydney Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour, from 4 – 6 February 2009 with an Awards Presentation on the 4 February.
