WA-based artist Jon Tarry has arrived at Melbourne’s Pin-up Project Space.
February 9th, 2012
Exploring the connection between art, architecture and contemporary culture, Melbourne’s Pin-up presents an exhibition by Perth-based artist Jon Tarry.
’Arrival & Departure’ is the result of Tarry’s summer residency at the gallery.
“On arrival in Melbourne and encountering the emptiness of the waiting Pin-up gallery space I experienced a feeling of constrained anticipation, of unknowing, of what time may offer,” Tarry recalls.
“Listening to the building ’crack’ in the summer heat, a ’nothingness’ is apparent – like a blank piece of paper. These early thoughts and existential musings give way to a confluence of ideas and a preoccupation with the sensorial.”
Arrival & Departure incorporates painting, drawing, sculpture, film and light for an exhibition that tests the thresholds of perception.
