#Pedraligoodideas at Salone del Mobile 2018

For their 30th year at the event, Pedrali steals the show with products inspired by architecture, art and the theatre.

At the 57th Salone del Mobile in Milan, Pedrali wowed the crowd with their #Pedraligoodideas setting, designed by the Milanese architectural studio Calvi Brambilla. Drawing inspiration from an object as charged with meaning as the light bulb, Fabio Calvi and Paolo Brambilla studio paid tribute to the Italian company’s latest bright ideas with an installation that is both a museum display and a product dramatisation.

The 800 sqm stand took the form of a single, highly architectural volume, marked by longitudinal and circular openings strung with light bulbs. The effect was that of a museum itinerary through seven spaces displaying the brand’s latest collections. Drawing inspiration from the world of art, architecture and theatre, the entire stand was undeniably accentuated with a refined elegance.

Pedrali used the opportunity to launch thirteen new products, as well as two new collaborations with Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet and Italian designer Luca Casini. The partnership between Quitllet and Pedrali takes concrete form with two new products, stemming from a stylistic research involving shapes and materials. Remind is an innovative polypropylene armchair in which each element has been measured to ensure total comfort and cosiness. Soul is a chair in wood and polycarbonate that expresses the notion of uncontaminated creativity. The collaboration with Casini is embodied by Fluxo, a table marked by a robust structure and distinctive personality, while retaining a subtle, elegant quality.

Colourful and dynamic, Tribeca is an outdoor seating collection designed by Mandelli Pagliarulo that has drawn inspiration from childhood memories of summer, revisited in a contemporary key. The exhibition also took the opportunity to showcase the elegant yet minimal Vic side chair designed by Patrick Norguet and the Elliot table designed by Patrick Jouin, which combines soft lines with sinuous natural forms.

Dome barstools designed by Odo Fioravanti are a collection of plastic stools that recall iconic wood joinery and abstract shapes of metal, yet a minimalist essence and sense of structural simplicity are maintained.

The exhibition’s large central played host to numerous products in a series of different settings where dining and living spaces were separated by bookcases filled with plants and herbs. The outdoor space featured the Reva sofas by Patrick Jouin and the Giravolta wireless lamps by Basaglia Rota Nodari. The living area saw exhibited the new Osaka Lounge designed by Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo, the iconic Ester armchairs, the Social Plus sofas by Patrick Jouin and the enveloping Babila Comfort armchairs by Odo Fioravanti.

Anniversaries are always celebrating – and for the 10th year Pedrali showcased at Salone del mobile, the reason was doubly so. This new suite of designer products is everything great about the Pedrali brand, and the essence of Italian design itself.
