The space, in Sydney’s design district of Alexandria, has been purposefully designed to enable multiple transformations and adaptations – think more art gallery than traditional showroom. The main LightCo display walls are on castors allowing them to be easily moved around to create different areas, and the intricate cable tray and remote wiring systems allow for flexibility in designing experiential spaces with no rewiring requirements.

Since opening, the showroom has gone through a number of these transformations, mainly for new product introductions and launch events – most recently though, it was again demonstrated with a major re-purpose specifically executed for our own Sydney Indesign 17!

A 6m long lighting tunnel installation
incorporating over 95,000 programmable LED’s was created within the showroom space. From the outside this invisible seemed to be simply part of the regular space, but peeking through a mysterious curtain at either end led intrigued visitors into a magical immersive experience that teased and pleased the senses! Social media exploded and this was the most photographed installation over the #SID17 event.

Together with this installation, the team at LightCo have also recently created new, dedicated spaces with beautiful vignettes to showcase their latest products. Of particular note for design lovers is the newly launched is Karman from Northern Italy. A sophisticated and playful collection of interior and exterior fixtures, Karman’s extensive use of off-white ceramic materials moulded into interesting and unusual objects is evidence of the brand’s ability to surprise admirers at every launch.

The future for LightCo is bright! With every showroom transformation, the group continue to bring a curated selection of exciting and innovative international lighting products to the Australian design community and this has clearly been endorsed and appreciated by the industry with LightCo’s growing popularity and recognition.
