Get all the ins and outs for this super busy area of Saturday Indesign – from Church Street down to the Burnley end, there are plenty of design sights and sounds to take in. We explore them all.

The lowdown on Richmond at Saturday Indesign

Time is ticking as Saturday Indesign looms near and we can’t keep calm. Don’t forget to register now, if you haven’t already. We have a packed schedule that includes, design previews, industry talks, pop-ups and installations across all our venues, located conveniently in City North, City South, City Central and Richmond.

Today we’re bringing you a quick sneak-peek of our participating showrooms in Richmond. Here’s what to look forward to 22nd June 2019.

 

Design Precinct, Dulux and Artisan

This stunning bath ware, wallpaper and furniture showroom in Richmond has plenty on offer for every design aficionado. Available for viewing all day long, you’ll be dazzled by all the activities taking place at Design Precinct.

Catch live demonstrations of Design Precinct’s stunning wallpaper installations all day long. Want more creative inspiration? Reach out to designer Antonio Lupi, who will be available for a live catch-up between 9am –12pm.

Watch out for an illuminating presentation, involving two of the five Dulux Study Tour winners – Alix Smith and Phillip Nielsen between 10.30 – 11.30am. Alix and Phillip will share their experiences and insights into taking in some of the world’s most impressive design and architecture while journeying through Copenhagen, London and Lisbon.

Between 1 – 2pm, visit the showroom for a talk about ‘Connection to Place’ moderated by Phillip Nielsen, about the integral role of place in the design process. The esteemed panellists include Narelle Yabuka, Editor, Cubes Magazine as well as Sri Lankan Architect Palinda Kannangara.

Another talk highlight in the space is the Dulux Colour Trends and Milan Highlights discussion between 3 – 4pm. You’ll hear from some of the leading experts in colour forecasting about the trends that are likely to impact our interior spaces this season. The panellists include Andrea Lucena-Orr, Colour Planning and Communications Manager, Dulux and visual content expert, Bree Leach, introduced by Holly Cunneen, Editor, Habitus.

In the beautifully styled and large showroom, you will find the latest design pieces from Artisan Furniture. These incredible handmade and hand-crafted timber furniture pieces invite you to touch, sit and admire, adding the perfect finishing touches to the Design Precinct showroom.

Special prize

Artisan is also giving away one its stunning Bloop coffee tables, hand-finished in solid American oak, this beautiful work of design and craft is valued at $1795.

 

Eco Timber and FLOC Studio

Our next venue in Richmond is the beautiful Eco Timber showroom, which promises to provide a welcome respite from the dipping temperatures of Melbourne. With Winter Warmers as their theme for Saturday Indesign, the showroom intends to keep things cosy with a roaring outdoor fire. Eco Timber is collaborating with coastal design brand FLOC Studio and the pair has brought in Mainichi Design to create something of wonder to excite throughout the day from recycled timber jewellery making.

But that’s not all. Don’t forget to keep an eye for a growing sculptural installation created exclusively for Saturday Indesign by Mainichi on the day. Stay warm with coffee, soups and bread between 9am – 12pm.

Another thing to catch while there is an insightful panel discussion on the inclusion of craft and local craftsman in the pursuit for boundary-pushing design. Titled Craft Thinking, Indesignlive’s Editor, Aleesha Callahan will be moderating the talk, happening between 12 – 1pm, alongside eminent panellists Stephen Burks as well as Claire Scorpo, Director Agius Scorpo Architects.

When the afternoon rolls on, make it feel like Christmas in July with a mulled wine or White Russian by the fire, which is being served between 3 – 6pm. Step inside for some real Christmas feels!

Residentia Group

Easily the freshest showroom to join Saturday Indesign, the Residentia space will throw open its doors to welcome visitors on 22 June, having just added the finishing touches to the incredible new space in the Burnley end of Richmond.

Prepare for two rounds of cook-offs when you attend Saturday Indesign at the Residentia showroom in Richmond. Running throughout the day, you can also catch celebrity chef and Elica ambassador Paolo Arlotta whipping up delicious bites for everyone. CDK Stone and Zip Water

The brand plans to unveil its never-seen-before 2019 Natural Stone and Neolith Collection during Saturday Indesign. In collaboration with Zip Water, CDK Stone will also be presenting an immersive video installation, exploring innovation and imagination in design. Available for viewing all through the day.

Platinum partner Zip Water is also presenting something special and never-seen-before, a brand-new innovation in filtered water. Plus, knowing how thirsty it can get Zip will be popping up right across Melbourne with Hydration Stations.

 

KE-ZU

Don’t miss out on KE-ZU’s innovative pop-up at the Lumas Gallery in Richmond on 22 June. KE-ZU has partnered with Hot Black Design to create an interactive experience that brings alive the brand’s philosophy of ‘2wards Zero Waste’. The installation will showcase KE-ZU’s local production with U.S. design icon Bernhardt Design. Also watch out for new product releases from Milan, New York and Valencia. This immersive and interactive installation is available to check out all day for Saturday Indesign.

In addition, KE-ZU is giving away an Orange Slice chair by Artifort, a design classic valued at $3828.

Arthur G and Mokum

Hop inside the Arthur G showroom in Richmond between 9am – 6pm for your chance to view an immersive visual installation design by WMK Architecture, in collaboration with Mokum. The installation will present a visual journey between two seemingly contradictory design aesthetics.

Unpacking Australian Design Classics is a panel talk in collaboration with NGV, which explores the topic of iconic Australian design. Moderated by Indesign Editor, Alice Blackwood, the conversation features eminent panellists including Andrew Piva of B.E Architecture, Simone LeAmon from the NGV and Belle Magazine style director-at-large, Steve Cordony. Catch the talk between 9.30 – 10.30am only at Arthur G.

Arthur G is also hosting Melbourne’s artisan gin makers, the Melbourne Gin Company in the space between 2 – 5pm. Sample some of the best classic and contemporary gin drinks.
