Cafe Culture + Insitu At SID17

Cafe Culture + Insitu will be back at this year’s event (Fri August 11 – Sat August 12) with a spectacular line-up of designer furniture and several must-see seminars!

Sydney Indesign is upon us once again and Cafe Culture + Insitu will be hosting a pop-up venue at 1F Danks St, Waterloo (within the Tongue n Groove Showroom). This year, the company will be focusing on some stunning new pieces from Zeitraum – a German brand that takes immense pride in its work and is passionate about the materials it uses.

Zeitraum combines a modern, minimalist design language with a sustainable manufacturing approach to create high-quality furniture for the residential and commercial sectors. It has decades of experience in working with untreated, solid wood and all of its designs are deliberately unostentatious so that the material’s natural character and beauty can shine through. Today its products are enjoyed all over the world – from cafés in Sydney to offices in Paris and even the university in Utrecht! So, what will we be seeing from the brand at SID2017?

RAIL modular office table system

Designed by Kaschkasch for Zeitraum, this ingenious table and desk system celebrates a new frontier of modularity and flexibility in design. It was initially launched at Orgatec 2016 in Cologne and is perfect for today’s agile working environment as its allows you to reconfigure your workstation quickly and easily; add a high desk here, another table top there or install a pin board for visualising ongoing projects!

Using its connectable, modular components, the RAIL system can be extended to create structured spaces within offices, studios and agencies, or even the home; after all, it only takes a few simple steps to turn a conference table into a large dining table! As with all of Zeitraum’s designs, the system is visually light and simple and boasts beautiful craftsmanship. The collection comprises three different models – Rail Table, Rail Modular Office Table System, and Rail High Modular Office Table System.

The 1.3 Stool

The elegant 1.3 Stool, along with many other Zeitraum ranges, is available in a whole host of fabulous pastel colours – the entire spectrum of which will be displayed at SID2017. These include five grey shades, chalk white,

aqua blue, mint blue, salmon pink and pink pastel. For architects and designers, this opens up a whole new realm of possibilities, allowing them to respond more specifically to rooms and colour schemes.

Moreover, due to the natural surface structure of Zeitraum’s wood, the stool maintains its natural colour and, over time, will develop a patina and character all of its own. Designed by Kihyun Kim, it combines a wafer-thin form with super sturdy construction and its minimalist, urban look is equally at home in cafes and bars as it is in residential projects. The stool is part of Zeitraum’s 1.3 collection, which includes a chair, stool and bar stool.

Read Noon Lamp

Zeitraum’s Noon family includes the stylish Read Noon Lamp. Perfect for use alongside armchairs and sofas as a reading light, it features a black-coated iron frame with lampshades available in textile black or warm grey. Its shape is typically simple and elegant and the lamp emits a soft, warm glow that will add ambience to any space.

These are just three of the new ranges that Cafe Culture + Insitu will be showcasing at Sydney Indesign, however; there will be plenty of other new designs on display, so come down and take a look. They will also be holding seminars under this year’s Live Life and Work Life categories on the Friday: ‘Design Identities of Australia: Communities in Design’ from 12-1pm and ‘Mobile Working is the New Agile: How to Design for an Out of Office Workforce’ from 2-3pm.

And, on Friday and Saturday morning, the company will be kicking off by offering morning-tea – starting from 10am and lasting until the sweet treats run out! Finally, purchase anything from the CC+I online store (http://store.cafecultureinsitu.com.au/store.html) during the Friday or Saturday of Sydney Indesign using the code SID17 to receive a 15% discount on ALL products!
