Who had the best Industry bash this year? We list our top industry’s events from Jan to now.
December 20th, 2016
Who doesn’t love a good party? This year, the architecture and design industry went full force, hosting some of our communities most imaginative, exciting and bespoke events to celebrate everything from collaborations, new product launches, brand milestones and showroom openings. Team Indesign had the privilege of being able to attend so many events in design this year, here are some of our most memorable:
Zip HydroTaps Got A Designer Makeover
Hosted in the stunning Utzon room at the Sydney Opera House, the night was in celebration of the launch of Zip Water’s new HydroTap Design Range and included an insightful presentation from Zip Water’s CEO John Doumani who spoke on the history of Zip Water and the innovative future plans of brand moving forward. Guests were treated to an exquisite menu by ARIA and Matt Moran which included Pan roasted Cone Bay barramundi, Charred peaches with Serrano jamon and Moran’s take on the classic pavlova with elderflower, pineapple and raspberry.
Schiavello Turned 50
July 2016 officially kicked off the Schiavello 50-year celebrations worldwide. Over 650 staff past and present, along with special guests gathered from around Australia and abroad to attend the black tie event held at Penninsula, in Melbourne’s Docklands. A celebration of Schiavello’s history and Italian heritage, the Central Pier venue was transformed into a ‘night at the piazza’ complete with Italian inspired décor and music. 3AW’s David Mann hosted the evening and presented a touching ‘This Is Your Life’ tribute which gave a unique insight into the company’s foundations, growth and achievements. Former and present employees were invited to share stories live on stage alongside Tony, Joe and Peter Schiavello. Australian comedian Shane Jacobson entertained guests as a roving reporter throughout the evening, in addition to live performances from opera singers and Italian duo, Kato. The evening was complemented with Atlantic Group’s first-class food and hospitality.
Melbourne Indesign Wrap Party Hosted by Harry The Hirer
This after-party was maybe the most spectacular event we have ever hosted! Earlier this year in mid-August, Team #MID16 brought back the industry’s most iconic bash – the Melbourne Indesign After Party. Designed by SJB, Harry the Hirer’s recently unveiled showroom hosted this very important party where we rubbed shoulders with A&D’s most iconic players. A secret whisky room, jazz band, some pretty intense blue lighting, a disco dance floor, and champagne for days. Thank you to everyone who joined us, partied hard and made some memories. Our after party would not have been possible without our sponsors: Sunbrella, Sharp & Carter, Harry The Hirer, Starward Whisky, Eness, Flowers Vasette, and Cosentino.
Interstudio Makes A Comeback
We love a good comeback story, and that’s why we adore the official relaunch Interstudio’s newly renovated Melbourne showroom. Designed by Emily Unger of Emily Unger Design, the new showroom space showcases a wide selection of the Interstudio collection. Special guest for the evening was Jonas Ihreborn, CEO of Jonas Ihreborn Designs in Sweden, whose products are newly available through Interstudio. Also amongst their portfolio are other Nordic brands such as Arne Jacobsen, Busk + Hertzog, Morten Voss, and Kasper Salto. Interstudio also houses local designers like Ross Didier and Keith Melbourne. Food at the event was supplied by Smith Street Alimentari, and entertainment via Lark Music. The Sydney & Melbourne based furniture company Interstudio was founded in 2002, and is based on the philosophy of Interstudio Denmark, which has showrooms in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo.
