Cubes Indesign: Issue 72 Out Now

February 18th, 2015

Each issue of Cubes Indesign we publish endeavours to present as accurate a slice as possible of the architectural and design work that happens in Singapore. Even more importantly, we aim to feature best-in-category projects each and every time. This issue of Cubes Indesign hits the sweet spot, showcasing Singapore architecture and design at its best, on every scale.

Sports Hub
Singapore Sports Hub

With the Singapore Sports Hub up and officially running, we take a detailed look at its role as an active public place and urban icon. Read about how it managed to pull off being the world’s largest sporting infrastructure project to use the PPP (public-private partnership) procurement method, as well as the aims of the architectural partners.

The Singapore Exchange in the Metropolis building

ONG&ONG’s experience design studio, in collaboration with SCA Design (a member of ONG&ONG Group) designs a second office for The Singapore Exchange (SGX) in the Metropolis building in the One North district. Here, the designers rethink the SGX office in light of the interaction of trading floors of years past.

Linghao of Linghao Architects

We take a long, lingering look at Linghao Architects – a one-man show that is a direct reflection of the thoughtful and down-to-earth architect that Linghao is. Our feature traces a consistent thread of openness, fluidity and honesty through his work.

Long Houses by Formwerkz

Heading up this issue as the cover feature is Formwerkz’s Long Houses development. This project’s significance lies in how it deals with urban density in landed property estates. Add to that dynamic spatial qualities and you have yourself a vision of great architecture on a small scale.
