Bringing back the glamour of yesteryear with New Charsfield

One of St Kilda Road’s oldest mansions is the site of a new development set to bring old world hotel-style living to inner city Melbourne.

Bringing back the glamour of yesteryear with New Charsfield

Designed by Rothelowman, the New Charsfield development project has been thought out as a way of offering residents the amenities of a luxury hotel within beautifully designed residential surrounds.

The design details of New Charsfield have all appointed to reference a luxurious style of living more at home within the mansion’s former life than what is traditionally thought of when thinking of modern hotels or apartments. A full concierge service will function throughout the building, which will offer transportation, event planning, appointments, postal arrangements and even grocery shopping at the touch of a button.

No sense of luxury is complete though, without the proper architecture. To achieve the requisite level of class, Rothelowman has taken its inspiration from the original heritage listed Victorian-era mansion. Built in 1889, the mansion has most recently served as the four-star Hotel Charsfield after and will still remain on the site in the new development, placed at the front of the site.

“Charsfield mansion is significant for its well-composed Italianate form and its connection to this location’s long history as a distinguished residential area,” says Rothelowman principal Stuart Marsland. “Maintaining the lasting effect of this project has been integral to the design process, as this will be complementing the oldest surviving structure in St Kilda Road.”

Located on St Kilda Road, apartments throughout will feature private balconies, taking advantage of the expansive outlook, with expansive green spaces of Fawkner Park and Albert Park within viewing distance.

“There is choice of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments to cater to a broad market of investors, owner-occupiers, first homebuyers and empty nesters wishing to downsize,” says developer EBG Marketing Manager Heather Christotodou.

Construction will commence on the New Charsfield in early 2016.
