Since its launch in 2023, Perth Design Week has been growing in leaps and bounds. The 2025 edition is set to feature more than 75 events across a wide range of disciplines including architecture, urban planning, landscape design, interior design, furniture, fashion and graphic design.
Like any good design week, the Perth iteration is all about drawing out the connections to place in the city and state. The opening night celebration at the Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip, for example, will be a panel conversation on the question of ‘what makes design from this place uniquely Western Australian?’
Sandy Anghie and David Smith linked up with Indesignlive Editor and Stories Indesign podcast host, Timothy Alouani-Roby, in February to explain some of the history of Perth Design Week, as well as drawing out their anticipated highlights.
“Design is all around us – from the homes and suburbs we live in to the clothes we wear and the objects we use every day,” say the pair. “Design shapes our lives in countless ways. Perth Design Week is about bringing this awareness to the forefront and offering Western Australians the opportunity to engage with the design community in meaningful ways.”
A key focus of Perth Design Week is providing a platform for emerging designers, with annual exhibitions by North Metropolitan TAFE and Curtin University returning in 2025. They are designed to offer new perspectives from the next generation of creatives and foster dialogue among emerging talent, with a panel discussion led by NODE featuring leading designers shaping Perth’s creative future.
Other highlights include going into the new Perth headquarters star engineering firms, Arup and Aurecon, in collaboration with Peter Farmer and Little Rhino Design, with each sharing their stories on co-design and Indigenous engagement. Elsewhere, the Cultivated x Mark Tuckey Pop-Up and tour at Monash House will showcase restored iconic furniture and recycled timber pieces in a zero-waste retail space by Foolscap Studio.

Perth Design Week will take place from March 20–27th with support from Major Sponsors SHAPE, UniFor, Zsa Zsa Property, Human-Urban, Sandy Anghie Architect and the Consulate of Italy in Perth.
