In a first for Zaha Hadid, a commission of a nautical nature has resulted in the design of a limited edition launch, fittingly named: ‘Z.Boat’
July 18th, 2012
UK based art dealer, Kenny Schachter of Rove Gallery has commissioned another designer-mobile from the ’Queen of the Curve’: Zaha Hadid.
Having already engaged her services on the futuristic 2005 automobile: ’Z.Car’ and its follow up: ’ZCar.2’, his latest project continues to blur the lines between art, transportation and design.
“The idea is to think of vessels and vehicles as highly individualistic expressions of art, architecture and design reflecting the edge of what is possible…”
– Kenny Schachter
In design terms ’Z.Boat’ will buck traditional maritime engineering conventions and accommodate the 8 seafaring passengers in an asymmetrical hull and half-cabin.
With France’s Shoreteam bringing Hadid and Schachter’s faceted, fiberglass vision to life, sea worthiness schedules will see a limited run of 12 vessels launched in early 2013.
