The HASSELL Sydney studio is relocating to Walsh Bay from Monday 8 April.

April 5th, 2013

The new studio is in historic Pier 8/9 on the harbour’s edge – adjacent to Barangaroo Headland Park and in the heart of the emerging Walsh Bay creative industries community.  Pier 8/9 was built in 1914 to store and load wool onto ships bound for Europe and has a wonderful tough, industrial character. The studio is designed to reflect our engaged and collaborative culture. Focused on a large double height creative hub that also reveals the historic fabric and function of the building while accommodating interaction, model making, meeting and forum spaces. This space will facilitate everything from incidental get-togethers, to formal presentations and even performances for larger groups. The main studio space on the mezzanine level overlooks the hub, placing our design process on display, visible from both the entry below and throughout the large column free workspaces.

The new studio will be a stimulating place to work – a great environment for collaboration, critique, creative design, and interaction with our clients, so essential to the way we work. The move into the new studio also marks the appointment of Matthew Pullinger as HASSELL Managing Principal in Sydney.

“After a rewarding term as NSW President of the AIA, I am looking forward to an exciting period for HASSELL,” Matthew said. “The new studio will be buzzing with several major projects under way.” HASSELL’s current projects include Darling Harbour Live – the redesign of the convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct, a new glasshouse and tropical centre at Sydney’s Botanic Garden, the new light rail project in Sydney’s CBD and south eastern suburbs, and several mixed use projects within the city and city fringe.
