Ever dream of seeing your design make the big time? Ever dream of becoming an A+D powerhouse? Don’t worry, we’ve got your sorted!
From their humble beginnings in 1966, Schiavello has persistently embraced the idea that ‘anything is possible,’ a mantra that emerging talent in the A+D industries would be wise to remember. Starting as a small interior fit out and partitioning business between the two brothers Tony and Joe Schiavello, the pair had chased larger operational facilities only two years later in 1968, quickly proving their capabilities for large-scale production.
The next few decades of Schiavello’s history is marked with a series of successful launches of groundbreaking products and large-scale interior fit out contracts that continued to increase the aspirations and scope of the group’s work.
It’s only been in the last decade that Schiavello has broken into property development. However, with their forty-odd years of large-scale fit out experience and industry connections, their relative youth in the development industry has proved no hurdle for the organisation. At this point, they’ve helmed a number of successfully completed projects and are currently undertaking the development of Australia’s tallest building in partnership with Crown Resorts, after it was approved in February this year. At 325 metres, Melbourne’s Queensbridge Hotel Tower will reach 90-storeys, containing almost 400 hotel rooms and over 700 apartments.
Across fifty years of development, Schiavello has grown from the small interior fit out and partitioning business run by the two Schiavello brothers, to one of the largest multidisciplinary organisations in the world, spread across interior construction, furniture design and manufacturing, and property development – with Tony and Joe Schiavello still at the helm. Schiavello, as the Principal Partner for Launch Pad 2017, is an undisputed vital industry thought-leader in supporting emerging design talent, having come from those exact origins more than half a century ago.
With Launch Pad just around the corner, those of us here at Indesign Media Asia Pacific are starting to get excited about what the design world of tomorrow has in store for us. Marketing and Design Director, Anton Schiavello – also one of Launch Pad’s illustrious jury members – said of the event, “In the spirit of Schiavello’s rich culture of supporting designers in Australia, Schiavello is excited to be a part of Launch Pad, and aligning our 50+ years of creative leadership and vision with a new generation of Australian designers. Our collective design story extends internationally to Singapore and very soon Beijing, and I’m excited to also collaborate with talent nurtured throughout Asia Pacific.”
Launch Pad represents a unique opportunity for the celebration of emerging local and international designers within the Asia Pacific region, uncovering and supporting authentic and innovative talent, and providing the winner with an ongoing mentorship programme – a sure-fire recipe for 50+ years of success (you can trust Schiavello on this one!)
