Following its re-launch in May this year, Indesign magazine scooped the 2009 Folio Award for best re-design.
November 26th, 2009
As the first comprehensive review of Indesign magazine since its launch in 2000, the May debut marked a modern move for the forward-thinking quarterly.
Working closely with the team at studio one8one7 to create a new visual identity, Issue #37 was released earlier this year to an exciting reception from the design community.
As part of the review, a new font ’Indesign’ was created by Marcus Piper and Christey Johanssson, inspired by the jagged lines of Konstantin Grcic’s Chair_One series.
Easing the navigation and creating greater flexibility for content, the re-structuring of the sections allows the graphic design to strengthen the content, not compete with it.
“The re-design shot us ahead,” says Penny Craswell, Deputy Editor of the magazine. “It made the design community sit up and realise what a great magazine it is.”
The Folio Awards are the largest awards competition in magazine publishing.
